The true reason I am running the 50k in September is to redeem myself after the awful time I had at a 50k last month. I need to prove to myself that I can do better. In fact, I would not recommend running a 50k a month before a marathon. It might be a good idea about two months before, but a month before will do more harm than goo.

Sweaty Frank Sep 2008 6:15pm, 8 Sep 2008 1,520 posts	0 Sweaty Frank Well, that was a brutal 50k. It was in the Appalachian mountains, in Western Pennsylvania. I though I was going to have to crawl up some of those hills. It was a poor judgment to do it a month before Chicago.
