Food in Chicago is good - lots of options. The places I really liked: Excequer Pub - good burgers and pizza, though take note that even the small pizza is a lot of food elevencitydiner.com - various lunch food options yolk-online.com - if you like egg based food (i.e. brunch!) then this is the place to go, though it is busy from mid-morning to mid-afternoon. parkgrillchicago.com - more expensive, but the food was very good |

Very jeaous of all of you lot going out to Chicago. I did it in 2006 and loved it. The town is pretty cool - good shopping on North Michigan Avenue, just north of the river. Good nightlife, but couldn't tell you where we went. Course was great. The only marathon I've hit my target time on!! Just beware the wind in your face on the final two miles, it comes whistling in off Lake Michigan. Oh, and the ONLY hill on the entire course is the little bridge you go over just before the finishing straight. Happy to give more info for anyone that cares |

Thanks BB - what's the best strategy into the wind then? Where's the expo and what day did it open? What's the support like on the course? I could go on..... *stops* |

Strategy in the wind - well, most of the course is protected as you're running amongst tall buildings, so it's ok. I just found the last couple of miles to be tough into a headwind and I lost a bit of time there - but then it was the final 2 miles of a marathon, so maybe just my legs were tired?? Strategy - build up a bit of a time cushion if you can Expo - we went on Friday night when we landed. It's a decent expo, but once you've seen one you've seen them all, right? Good Yank prices though, if you want some new trotters. Support on the course is fantastic in the centre of town. Just before the halfway mark they're hanging off the windows. Awesome. Some of the further out parts (like around mile 19-21) are a bit quiet, but overall it's very good. Go on if you like!! |

How often are the water stations? What energy drink / food did they supply? Are there any cobbles? Will I win? |
