I'm after several marathons again next year. I've entered one costing more than fifty quid. Consequently, I'm not too keen on paying through the nose for any others, especially as I need to cover transport/accommodation. This year, I made the savings by entering the Tour of Northumbria, which gave me, effectively, four marathons for less than I'd normally pay for two. I'd do it again, but I fancy travelling/ticking off more counties/seeing more of this fine nation. Are there any other marathons that can be recommended which will cost me less than, say, 25 quid? I know about the LDWA events, and will look at a couple of those, but I'm after some runners' events as well. Especially if I can get a train to within a taxi ride from the start. Already I have races booked in Buckinghamshire, East Sussex, Cumbria and possibly Kent for next year. |

Not looked into it much but if you subscribe to Madeyarun you get discounted entries to various marathons - generally of the type hosted by 100 Marathon Club members. madeyarun.com Race entry fees get reduced to £5 and the subscription is £19 for the year.

This one cost £23, so not cheap as such (just below your limit- and you'd have to get to Scotland), but it was a fab race and fantastically organised: strathearnharriers.org.uk

I've read the Madeyarun bumph - entered the Tour of Northumberland and Enigma Winter and Quadzilla through there, so I get e-mails from Dave Major about it. Is anyone a member? Am I likely to save the cost of my membership? Strathearn's on the radar, though I've not looked into the whole travel situation... |

You have radar? I would dedicate that before any marathon to ensure a PB
