I got the big cat carrier out, as I need to take Nori to the vet.
They haven't had much trauma associated with carriers yet, so I thought if left it open in the living room he might be tempted to just curl up in it.

He wasn't, but Miso was.
The process of evicting her and trying to get him in was not stress free.
There may now be some trauma associated with the carrier.

They're a pair of silly critters, and no mistake.

Nori is extra silly because he's been eating fish food (that's food for the fish, not food made of fish but intended for cats) that Bel kindly spread all over the living room the other day when she decided to savage a brand new giant bag we'd just bought, and that we hadn't managed to clean up from under the TV unit.

Question about travel

So I’ve been looking at holiday homes that allow pets

It won’t be a long trip as ozzy doesn't like cars.

With a dog you can stop and take them for a walk/wee break what about cats?
Should I buy a harness and try to train them to have a walk outside?

If you are taking a cat somewhere new I believe the advice is to keep them indoors for a fortnight and get a litter tray. And take stuff that smells of them as they can find environments they haven’t thoroughly Co-opted threatening. We’ve always chosen to get cat feeders in rather than take the cats with us, but others may have different experiences

It would be a short break so staying indoor with their stuff once there but I was just thinking do you give them a break when driving? Or would they really just sleep!

Ours would sing all the way EP and generally disgrace themselves but I always suspect them of fearing a return to the rspca. I cannot envisage them consenting to a controlled toilet break, id just be taking disinfectant spray, some kitchen towel and having one of us holding them while the other cleans up, all without opening the car doors. Blimey what a thought. But yours generally seem more amenable.
