I am looking into buying a camelbak (or other brand) for long runs – but I have no idea which ones are good for running. I don’t want anything too big (~2L) and possibly have a pocket or two. I am quite little (size 8) and have a budget of about £60. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thank you. :-)

I have a camelbak that I don't get on with - it could be yours if you want to cover the cost of postage...I'll make sure I soak the bottle in Milton before it comes to you!

Trespass - get a decent backpack for about 20 quid. I bought mine in 2010, 2 Ltrs of fluid and its been okay.

Which one is it you have Mrs Distraction? I may be interested.

I did have a look at cheaper ones in Millets - the guy in the shop was not very helpful and he was desperate for me to buy one. There was a vango one and a eurohike one both about £15, the eurohike one felt cheap. Will have a look at trespass.

Thanks guys :-)

You could just get a running back pack that has the option to take a bladder, and buy a bladder separately? Something like the omm last drop? That might give you more flexibility. Or even a bum bag with a bladder option (Inov-8 do some, but sell the bladders separately, I think).

I would suggest an ultra vest like the Nathan Vaporshape / Salomon S-Lab / Ultimate Direction, some of which come with a bladder or will take a bladder. Others have front mounted bottles. But they may all be too expensive.

The only Ultra vest I can think of that comes in under £60 is the Decathlon one, which is really good value but would be too big for a small woman and doesn't include bottles or a bladder. Wiggle has the UD Women's Ultra Vesta at £75 at the moment, which is a good price and which comes with bottles but not with a bladder. a squizz around t'internet may throw up some other end-of-season bargains.

Having found over the years that a rucksack throws my centre of gravity too far away for me to be able to run, getting a vest and carrying water in bottles on the front so that the weight is more evenly distributed has made a huge difference.

I recently bought a Salomon Trail 10 backpack. It's small enough for a petite woman to wear, but big enough for all the essentials. It doesn't come with a bladder but will fit a 2L apparently, and is between £30 and £40 on t'internet. And I can reach my bottles in the side pockets without removing the pack. I'm very pleased with it :)

I have a Nathan intensity vest for sale too if you want that? It's women specific and fitted me great (and you know I'm on the petite side!)
