That's great news on the accommodation Frank, far more convenient for you. We will have to arrange a meet before the race perhaps ?
Training is going well thanks, no specific plan but I have a general list of aims for each month and some events planned for March to replace solo long runs and build up the mileage.
Fitness improving and cross training is too i think, the weather has never bothered me and will train regardless perhaps slower and shorter but I work on the theory that race day can throw anything at you and hopefully I will be ready !! Hope your training is going well also.

Sounds good, forest. Do you have any races in your plan? I usually do an half-marathon about 6 weeks before Boston. Training is going well for me. I have been injury-free and healthy. The weather is not cooperating, but I've been through lots of Boston training cycles in this part of the world, and the weather is mostly horrible. The high temperature for the day today is -18 C (0 F). Not much fun.

Yikes !! That's cold, I'm lucky there to be permanently uk based.
Rcaes in the plan are 26m off road Belvoir Challenge which will be 7 weeks out, 25m off road in yorkshire the week after, rest week and then the Ashby 20 road race, last long run which will be 4 weeks out but not at race pace.

Very aggressive race schedule, forest, but you're just a pup. I am to old for that kind of racing before my target race.

It's a method I've followed for last couple of road marathons and it's worked well. I no longer enjoy training runs solo greater than 15 miles solo and have found events to use as training if done at the right pace. Plus I enjoy it which to me matters more than the outcome
Four weeks for a good solid taper and hopefully all will be well

Sounds good if you don't race, and only use the race as a supported run done at the appropriate training pace. I do recommend racing at least once before your marathon, no more than a half-mara, and no closer than 4 weeks out.
OK, so the temp when I left the house this morning was -26 C (-14 F). I decided to run on the treadmill.

That's how it works, TRO. Except if you set about training for a hot race day, then we're back to blizzard conditions.

Right...it's getting ri-goddamn-diculous already. We've been averaging temperatures in the -15 to -26 without a break for weeks now. Running roads is nearly impossible, not directly due to the cold, but due to ice and constrictions from the walls of snow constricting traffic. Trails are so thick with snow they cannot be found. Treadmills and indoor tracks have been the only options most days. The indoor tracks are short, and congested with walkers and plodders who don't understand how to yield a lane to faster runners, or simply don't care to. The mind-numbing tedium of long treadmill runs is unfathomable to those who have not done 20 mile runs on one.
Sorry, venting is done. Feeling better now. <Forces smile, places iPhone on treadmill console, hits the Quick Start button>

Slow and Ultra Steady
I shall be in Boston not for the actual race but i'm doing a charity run with a guy called David Clark. He's running the course 3 times then doing the race! I'm hoping to do the first 3 with him so get to run the course I'm a bit too slow to qualify sadly so grasping an opportunity to run the course.
Staying with a friend whos daughter tragically died last May and we're raising awareness and funds for a charity that helps people deal with the death of a child.
Going to so enjoy the race and atmosphere of the whole event.
