Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Once a Sprinter ...
3 weeks to go! I walked 14 miles & jogged a further 5 yesterday. 4 hours 15 minutes on my treadmill, watching a Batman film and several episodes of West Wing.

Feel OK today and no obvious hamstring issues.

Will decide whether to go this time next week and book my flights then - this will give me chance to do another 19 / 20 mile effort

I may never get chance to take part in Boston again so even walk / jog is appealling. Looking at last years results there were plenty of 6 hour plus finishers so I would not be alone

I have a wave 2 coral 5 assignment

Remember that last year was stupidly hot and so not typical of an average years results.

"Stupidly hot" is accurate regarding last year's Boston, but I made it much worse by stupidly denying the weather could slow me down. I held my sub-3 pace through the half, then inevitably succumbed to the heat and crawled miserably to the finish for a new personal worst.

Received my packet today. Glad to see that the Expo has moved back to the Hynes Convention Center in the Back Bay. Much more convenient to have the Expo on Boyleston, near the finish line. I always stay in the Back Bay, and it is nice to be able to walk to and from the Expo.

Last long run done. Taper started. Weather is still completely crap. Hard to believe it was 32 C in the race last year. We've barely crept into positive numbers this year.

BBC long range weather forecast suggesting 25 degrees C on Wednesday 10th April.

Anyone got another view - don't like that one!

Sorry, but I don't trust the accuracy of a forecast this far out. I'll wait until a few days before to check.

Managed to sneak in two interval sessions and two tempo runs in the last two weeks, while my knee pain was on a hiatus. With a week to go, I'm in taper mode, with no more speed planned. I will mix in two miles at marathon pace less 10 seconds on Wednesday, and throw in a few pick-up of a hundred yards or so in a few other runs. Looking forward to getting this race started.
