Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

I'm liking the way this is going. Nod is starting to look like a knockabout comedy :)

When they made that film of Jude The Obscure (with Christopher 'too much of a proper actor to play Doctor Who but, oddly, alright with playing Malekith the Dark Elf in Thor: The Dark World' Eccleston) they really forgot to include all the humorous passages in the book. As did Thomas Hardy.

I loathed the last chapter of Jude. Didn't even seem in character.

(Don't think that 'too much of a proper actor' was the issue for Eccleston; he's been tight-lipped about it, but implied that the working environment for a lot of the junior people on the series he was in was intolerable, and he didn't want to stay part of that. Heroes, 28 Days Later, GI Joe - not seeing him shying away from genre roles).

I thought he was a cracking good Doctor FWIW.

Me too. I thought he gave the new series a lot of credibility at the start, playing the role in a quite down-to-earth (for want of a better phrase) way at the core of of this very colourful and off-beat presentation. If they'd gone for a Colin Baker-type approach, it might not have made it to a second season. (CB's audio work is great, but the production approach when he was on screen was awful). I was very disappointed that he left. Tennant took the best part of an hour to win me over, and he spent most of that in a coma :)
