I've just started last month's. Being reminded of my Coe over-familiarities and the stylistic tics that are beginning to irk. Has he written a better book than "Like a Fiery Elephant" his BS Johnson one? I've not come across one yet. And I'm half way through the Nov 2022 one, but that's proving a bit of a grind. Also on the Backlisted one "Gaining Ground" or in the UK "Abra" by Joan Barfoot, which is absolutely gripping, even though not much happens in it! |

I agree that Coe has probably nothing as good as the Johnson biography, @Chrisull I'm half way through Serotonin, Chris, and understand your warning. I won't be suggesting it for this or any other book group (although it is quite funny if you read it in the right way). Re books discussed on Backlisted recently, I saw Ex-Wife by Ursula Parrott on prominent display in Waterstones on Saturday. I was tempted but I didn't buy it. I looked for Birding by Rose Ruane, but they didn't have it. I also saw Scaffolding, by Lauren Elkin, as discussed on the last Locklisted, but that's only in hardback as yet. What I did end up buying was Of Love and Hunger, by Julian MacLaren-Ross and Sorry for Your Trouble, by Richard Ford |

I’m On my 4th book by David nicholls I’ve read. One day. Us. A starter for ten and now I’m on the understudy. They’re old books but I love the humour without it being farcical |

Wondering how many books about vacuum-cleaner salesmen Daz has read. Then remembered Graham Greene wrote one, but I couldn't remember its name; then read Dio's entry, above.
