I'm on the last chapter of Bournville right now and I can think of no higher compliment than that I don't want it to end

My review is up. I have read 4.5 books in the last three days, no hang on 5.5.
When I finished Bournville I read a quick fantasy novel, then I picked up another Gabrielle Zevin (see last month!), Young Jane Young. I read that today and I'm going to review it on the A J Fikry thread.

I've had Bournville in my reading pile for a while now. I must get to it. I've read Middle England and it didn't quite hit the spot for me.
Recent books: The Wager - non-fiction and a rollicking read. Loved it.
Lessons in Chemistry - liked it apart from the Anthropomorphic Dog.
Strange Sally Diamond - crikey it was dark. Not a beach read but I liked it a lot.
The Other Boleyn Girl - I liked it although it seemed to have inserted a lot of highly speculative stuff
The Midnight Library - nope, didn't go for it at all.
Shuggie Bain - a masterpiece imo.
The reading pile just gets bigger and bigger.

Also a ton o' Jack Reacher, Bernard Cornwell (Uhtred), and non-fiction books on subjects too tedious to recount.

Bournville is better than Middle England, I’d say. Mind you, the garden centre shed scene in ME is a favourite of mine)

Another Coe novel that works in parts is Dwarves of Death. (He's apparently disowned it a bit). There's an extended bit in there about waiting for a bus that is absolutely spot-on observation.
