Tolstoy is good, so much so that he can even write at length about Russian agriculture and not lose one completely but, if I had been his editor, I think I might have suggested those sections could have been cut quite significantly. Look at me, trying to improve what is widely regarded as the greatest novel of all time. Next up I shall be critiquing Joyce and asking him to make his work more accessible to the mass market.

Ordered at the local indie bookshop - her supplier was out of stock but expects to have more in soon (like, maybe a week) so I've resigned myself to that. Meanwhile maybe I'll tackle Anna Karenina.. only I don't seem to have a copy, which I thought I did.
