I would really recommend The New York Trilogy by Paul Auster. One of my faves.

And mine. There are several on Your list I’ve started but not finished: The Human Stain, White Teeth, and Mrs Dalloway. I don’t think I’ve ever finished anything by Wolfe, not even a short story.

My mum studied Anna Karenina and Tess of the D’Urbervilles and the Spire when she took English a level. I read them all when I was around ten and have reread them many times. Interestingly to me I have no memory of what books I read. It was measure for measure for olevel which I also loved but the rest is a blank

The only one I’ve read from your pile, Dippers, is Capital. Is ok, but that’s all. My pile is a mixture of physical and virtual, I shall add it later. An update on my current reading: I am loving Wakenhyrst by Michelle Paver, and thoroughly recommend it. A Journal Of The Plague Year is, as McG suspected in a blog comment, at all grim; it is literally a factual, journalistic, account of Defoe’s experience. Here’s a link to a podcast about it open.spotify.com |
