Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

Some of her stories verge on SF. Implications of time travel, for example; and of "wishes" which are granted in ways not anticipated, and which cease to function at sunset.

Just finished What I Talk About When I Talk About Running and halfway through And Once More We Saw Stars, which is a surprisingly good grief memoir which makes my heart hurt.

Thirded.

Finished The Book Of Strange New Things which was excellent, although didn't really have any revelations at the end. Moving, but somehow slightly unsatisfying right at the end, I can't put my finger on why. Back to Don DeLillo's Zero K, part of my library 8 that I've got to November as the libary involved is shut until then. Refusing to buy any books for a while, I need to get through my to read piles.

Exactly, Chris, it just petered out. All the way through I thought it was building up to some significant revelation or terrible climax, but there was nothing.

Still haven't bought a copy of NA (it's times like this I regret decluttering my books a couple of years ago) so started The Lottery and Other Stories by Shirley Jackson on the rain yesterday.
