Solo? I'd not picked that bit up. Wow that is brave but probably not that realistic either.
He's now losing minutes to Kim on each leg. Hard to see where the relative speed gain wa going to come from, particularly without support.

From his Instagram : "A lot of preparation and planning has gone into this one. Planning everything from the US and having not seen much of the route before, I cannot afford any mistakes. I've spent dozens of hours staring at maps, tinkering with on-line routing software and crafting an unreasonably massive spreadsheet to decide whether it's actually possible.
Theoretically it might be plausible but who knows. There is only one way to find out for sure and that is to try.
Come 7pm tomorrow night I'll set off alone to find out. Not getting lost will occupy most of my brain activity for 24 hours. The remaining brain activity, I presume, will be spent telling myself to speed up.
I'll see my crew at a few points along the way to swap high fives, restock on delicious gels and shed a tear or two as the reality of the endeavour sets in!
What a privilege to even attempt such a thing!"

Kim did ask for support on Ryan's behalf but I guess people had other plans for the Bank Holiday weekend. He has Haycock as an extra top (Kim debated going there too but added Fleetwith Pike instead). I can't see how he'll have time to beat the record now.

Does beg the question as to at what point the level of realism in what your pursuing is so minimal that it just becomes a self indulgent act of social media promotion?
Pursuing your dreams is fine but when it comes with a large dose of self-publicity I can't help feeling you've got the basis of a narcissistic personality disorder. I tend to think the Adam Perry style approach of just cracking on and folk hearing about it afterwards is more in keeping with the history of the record.

Ah, but FF, we’re all old school.
I am pretty aghast at social media at the best of times and the things folk will do to be desperate to notice them for the lure of five minutes of fame. I’m already full of swears at folk on the BG Facebook page who don’t bother putting in their 10p’s (I’ll go for a cheap, low level engagement fee) worth of support and then expect folk to turn out to help on two weeks notice as they’re driving up from London to ‘have a crack at it’ 🙄. Then there’s the Willy waving level of that lad who announced he was going to do the WW winter record out of nowhere and lasted about a day….
I think narcissistic personality disorder just about nails it.
Disillusioned of Coventry.

Naive question.
Is there an unsupported record he may also be chasing?

He has been supported at road stops hasn’t he? Is that a form of self supported?

He's still going despite being over 24 hours but it's a beautiful evening so I don't blame him.
