I don't know for sure Gus but like DT I suspect you answered your own question. Some quick attempts in progress at the moment looking at the trackers. A guy called Harry Sheull went through Threlkeld in 3.08 and has continued down Leg 2 at a similar pace. And a tracker under the title Neil, Sam and Josh is moving just in front of Harry, around 20 mins slower to Dollywagon but still going at a decent pace. Gwen Stokes is plodding away at his double CW attempt as well. He's inside 24 hour pace on the first round as he heads into Wasdale but to do the two sub-24 rounds he's targetting he is going to have to keep to the same pace throughout with little or no slowing. Tim Laney went through Kirkstone in 3.12 on his Joss which would give him a shot at the second fastest M60 time of 12.55 (the fastest is a ridiculous 11.08!). |

Is the CW double a genuine two lapper ff?

Yes DT, it's an attempt at a proper double BG, two laps under 24 each starting and finishing at the Moot Hall. Unlike most of the others that seem to have tried that he is going for two CW loops rather than a CW and an ACW.

Thanks for feedback on Rob Jebb. I've set up a new thread to follow Donnie Campbell's munro round attempt, and for any future discussions on Ramsay Rounds, or general advice on Munro day trips etc fetcheveryone.com/forum/the-munros---complete-rounds-ramsay-rounds-day-trips-61556 |

There's an interesting set of splits currently being posted by an Ursula Moore. She went through Threlkeld in a bog standard 3.45, right in the slot for a 23-23.5 hour round. She has then done Leg 2 in 3.51 which is an hour inside 23-23.5 hour pace. I thought she might have got caught up in the two fast rounds but they hadn't quite caught her by Dunmail, so though she may have known they were catching her I'm not sure their prescence accounts for the speeding up. It will be interesting to see how her round develops. Was it deliberately a very conservative start (there appear to be no nav errors on leg 1) or has she got massively carried away on Leg 2?

Did you all use trackers on your rounds? (Although I'm guessing they mainly predated the tracker thing, which only seemed to become big a few years ago). I can't imagine anything worse than people tracking me tbh! |

I’m guessing but think trackers were starting to be used around 2013 / 2014. I think I can find out more accurately and if I can I’ll post accordingly. iirc the tracker guy was offering free hire initially, presumably so runners could test, give feedback to start with. Coverage wasn’t great at the beginning and it wasn’t usual I think to have problems eg between Scafell Pike and Sca fell or in Wasdale

Does anyone have the link to the OpenTracking page that lists the various attempts going today?

That's right DT. James offered free hire to rounds and used them as testers as he refined the system. There are still a few blackspots but the use of IoM Sim cards that can roam across all the UK networks has reduced these to an absolute minimum now (I think the claim on the BG is now greater than 90% coverage). I think they have also refined the trackers to store positions and transmit them later whereas if I recall rightly the early versions just transmitted their current position when they got a signal. 2013 sounds about right for the first use of trackers, I'm not 100% sure but I don't recall them being about in 2012 when I did a number of supports. |
