I'd seen the rumors yesterday, but not today's confirmation. It's fair to say Paul and Damian have both had reasonable runs this week!

In Keswick market place and the number of people milling round the Moot Hall is quite remarkable. 2-3am at Dunmail is going to need traffic control. If your support team get there late they're going to be parking in Grasmere!

Conditions perfect and forecast to stay good. Will be interesting to see how many get round. Just hope they've all cleared Red Gully and the trod under Black Crag before we come through the opposite way on the Joss tomorrow afternoon because we won't be stopping for anyone at that point if it's going to plan!

4 successful AC last year out if a total of 84. If you look on the news page on the Bob Graham Club website there are the full stats for the last few years.

I did support on a 10.47 yesterday (4th on the all time list) and the pace was scarily quick. Equates to something around 14 hour Bob pace. The rough descents off Gable and Kirk Fell were real put your brain away and go moments. I was setting pbs for them and getting dropped by minutes (literally). (NE go look at the segment splits down the Great Gable Scramble...)
Interesting note for anyone contemplating a Joss. I've been of the opinion for some while that the standard pace schedules are wrong (way too quick early on - there are historical reasons for this going back to Joss' inaugural run) and I refined them somewhat for my own attempt last year. The outcome only reinforced that view. Over the winter I produced a schedule for yesterday's attempt that put the runner outside the standard 12 hour pace at Kirkstone (end of leg 1) but delivered 10.50. The actual run yesterday never deviated from the schedule by more than 3-4 mins either way and we're convinced it wrung every last ounce out of the contender without him blowing up at any point. Happy to share the formula with anyone thinking of a go.
