We played Azul a couple of times when it first came out, but haven’t really gone back to it. Given it’s by one of my favourite designers - Michael Kiesling - and it’s ranked #2 abstract game and #9 family game on BGG, it’s probably time to get it to the table!

I know there's a lot of "entertaining" stuff on the internet, but I have just discovered something that is really very funny indeed. There is a blogger I follow on BGG called "MrShep". His wife collects 1/12 scale dolls' houses and furniture. He is currently engaged on a project to try and hide 1/12 scale copies of board games in rooms in the dolls' houses without her noticing and he is cataloguing the experiment.

Here is the first one which involves placing a copy of Agricola in a games room! He is up to nine games so far. boardgamegeek.com

The Mussile
Recently got Wingspan and Isle of Cats

Wingspan takes a little bit of getting used to to make it flow and starts slowly in the early rounds. Pays off and becomes more interesting in the later rounds

Isle of Cats is really interesting combining shape placement and tactics on purchasing cards and baskets (to rescue cats). Again can start slowly, house rules mean we often play an extra round than in the official rules

We have really enjoyed Wingspan. There is a particular strategy in the base game which can become a little too powerful in the later game (described in the spoiler below in case you haven't discovered it yet or read about it) and apparently the expansion helps to balance this by strengthening other options.

The expansion is on my Christmas list - but the base game is still very good!

The "egg spamming" strategy involves laying eggs in the final round rather than doing anything else. It's frequently the best way to gain points towards the end of the game. In a way it's not really a strategy, it's just the best option to go for, which can limit the interest of the closing stages of the game.

Stander
I just dropped obscene amount on a Kickstarter - Foundations of Rome (the second printing).

It's ridiculously over produced but it does look amazing on the table.

Recently picked up Heat: Pedal to the Metal.

It's basically Flamme Rouge for 60's F1 cars. And great fun.

I’d like to give that racing game a go Stander. I’ve got Flamme Rouge and I love it. It doesn’t get to the table enough though. How does Heat differ or is it basically a reskin?
