Oh I missed that post Phil Sorry. That would probably been both hard and comforting for you son but glad he didn't have to.

Re driving for exercise - the regulations still say that we must avoid inessential travel. The guidance to police from their college (and not statutory), which has been widely circulated on the internet, tells them how to judge whether (eg) travel undertaken has a reasonable excuse or not. The local Chief Constable, in an interview with the local (crap) news website, gave as an example someone living in a city flat who normally exercised their dog along the canal tow path but could no longer do so because it was too narrow for the 2m-apart rule.

People who are interpreting this guidance to the police as carte blanche to drive to somewhere nice to run, are wrong, IMO. It's only ok if you really can't exercise because of crowding.

I do feel the police have muddied the waters for themselves and for everyone else over some very mixed messages.

Anyway, that's not the point of this thread and I hope Linds can find somewhere to run where she feels safe. I'm not sure getting locked into Harrow School grounds fits that bill :-)

Zoom strength and core class this morning was spoiled by a very flaky internet connection. Bloody Talktalk.

Although I would say if you have to go to work, running around or to work, especially on routes where you have space, is right within the spirit of it all. I imagine Linds would feel terrible if someone raised an eyebrow at her whereas people who don’t get it at all would also be impervious to any comment ;-) Similarly when there was a supply teacher who used to berate c9 class, telling them they were a shame to their school and family for talking, only the few that were listening anyway took note and came home devastated

Most of my runs are usually along the river or canal, right now they’re both busy and the canal authority have asked people not to cycle along there as it’s so busy. The river is usually empty but there are actually huge numbers of people who live nearby and have never used it until now, I’m happy that more people are using it but even at 8pm last week it was like Oxford bloody circus. So short of going out early doors (won’t happen) I feel comfortable driving for 5 minutes or so to somewhere with more space.

Plus the number of fucking gates along the river is crazy and completely unnecessary right now. They’re for keeping dirt bikes out and cattle in, but right now the cattle are somewhere else and the dirt bike idiots are staying home for now

And not to mention the idiot dog owners from last week, I’ve had more scary dog encounters along the river than anywhere else. Frankly it’s more stressful than the number of people.

That sounds tough, Phil, but I'm glad that other people's loved ones are being properly looked after by DS2, though it must be a very hard job.
