I went for a run at lunchtime & was surprised to see a lady swimming in the sea off Ferring beach. There was no one else on the beach & she was the only person in the sea.

The only reason I was surprised was, although it was very warm today, I would have thought the sea was quite cold.

When I got home & told my wife, she said the woman shouldn't have been swimming. My answer was that everyone is allowed to exercise & that I was running, people were cycling, why couldn't she go for a swim. Something tells me I lost that argument. Thanks goodness when I went shopping earlier in the morning, I got my wife some Cadburys cream eggs. Who says corruption doesn't go a long way.

I’m assuming if she was swimming this time of year she’s used to cold water!
I took my rebounder out into the patio this evening, just brilliant. Happy for lockdown to last forever in good weather with my rebound patio classes. Or at least a few more weeks with long evenings!

I read somewhere that surfing wasn't allowed as exercise so swimming might not be either (might have been the local Sidmouth website, because I have seen the guy who swims or surfs every day of the year in the water when I've looked on the webcam) but if you live by the sea, and that's your form of exercise, I'm not sure why that would be banned.

I think the concern is that open water swimmers might need rescuing (much less likely for runners and cyclists) and there are no lifeguards. I'm not judging though. Presume she was experienced.
