My main memory of the House of the Spirits is reading it on a transatlantic flight, and the evangelical Christian (possibly a Gideon) using the title as an excuse to bend my ear for about 2,000 miles. I think I quite liked it, though. (As for the Gideons, I learned today that you need to be a professional/businessman to join as a full member; so it's a club for middle class males, then. I think I quite dislike them.)

Hi all, enjoying the IoW so far but the weather can improve. Gutted though as I scraped the caravan along someone else's queuing for the ferry at Southampton. Luckily it is only cosmetic on ours and theirs was fine. Would have hated ruining two families holidays. Ran this morning and not done a lot else since. Planning on doing a bit of fossil hunting later if I can convince the kids to get dressed lol

Enjoy your week

I thought maybe Badger's comment was intended for the Book Thread, or one of the threads related thereto.

That would be the same Gideons who put Bibles into hotel rooms (or used to)?

After several hours of heavy rain it eased off and the sun appeared so we set off for five miles and it pretty soon started pelting down again! I also think four miles would have been just about right for today, the last mile was a real effort. Still, another enjoyable run and it beats the heck out of being at work.

It was indeed meant for the book thread, where Dipps was talking about the House of the Spirits. Same Gideons, yes, he gave me one of their bibles at the time.

I forgot my Morning, this morning, late wake up meant limited tea drinking dawdle before swim time. Darker mornings & I'm another one thinking its autumnal. Hope the IoW is more summery. If that's a word. Summer-y that's better.

Serendippily, hope trip to dentist went as well as could be & don't be disappointed, hope you enjoyed the half, excellent time on feet for future races this summer, like Beachy

About This Thread

Welcome to the 700 miles in 2017 thread, everybody welcome :-)

The thread motto is:

'700 miles is neither necessary nor sufficient'

All you have to do is run about 1.91 miles per day or 13.46 miles per week or 58.33 miles per month and take a picture when you get to 700 miles of either you or the spot you reached the target or both if you want to. And if you go under or over 700 miles nobody will mind.

Join in the chat on the friendliest thread around - all things discussed and sometimes even some running is talked about.

Happy running :-)
