Mmm decided to start using my strava app on my phone again and discovered that strava is measuring my runs as longer than my garmin gps watch, it means that my pace is showing as better than it is with the watch, which is great for the ego but I'm now left wondering which is the more accurate, I know in the grand scheme of things it doesnt really matter but its kinda bugging me now, anyone else have this 'problem' ?

LOL!
Very muddy at my parkrun this morning but very happy to run a course PB, when I wasn't really trying, just running on feel and keeping a steady pace and trying to to slide round the corners. Best 5k time since my PB which is 3.5y old!
This week I've had that lovely feeling of being fit that I haven't felt for ages, when your lungs seems bigger and emptier and you feel full of energy and have motivation to train. Anybody else ever get that? Hoping it lasts

Good news on the insanity AR I hope tomorrow's run with new watch goes well parkrun for me today. It was pacer day and I was thinking maybe i could get sub-29, ob my watch I did 29.00.03, maybe the timer was a bt wuicker pressing the button than me. Happy with that though as my hamstrings are pretty sore from KBs yesterday

Nce feeling Meglet, well done on your course pb Stewie the Garmin is likely to be more accurate, I think the watches have more checkpoints than the phone apps, but I don't use strava so don't know it's accuracy

x-post.
Stevie, I'd imagine your garmin will be more accurate, but nothing is totally accurate. Even properly measured courses (with a wheel) have an allowance for error.
My garmin (920) seems to under-measure compare to my club mates when we run the same route. This week I had 4.4 miles when some others had 4.8, they hadn't been doubling back either. I put this down to the fact I pause mine when we stop as I want running pace not overall pace.

Can you look at the traces on a map and see if they represent where you ran, or if they go off-course?
Like this (I was running along the road)

Thanks guys, yeah I would have thought the Garmin would be more accurate tbh, but both maps are spot on, looks like I'll be hitting 700 on strava before I do on here Thanks

Morning Nice PB Meglet, love yesterday's squares Carp, think the robin was yours too, multi talented indeed
Hope runners & parkrun RDs had better timekeepers than me, so busy clapping I hit wrong button. Noticed at once but still thoroughly mortified. Pressure certainly on the other person..& I see the results aren't up yet. Will run next week might be better
