Oh dear AR. That's rubbish and just the sort of thing that puts people off clubs. Do they have other groups going out? There are usually a selection of runs to choose from at my club including intervals/hills or similar. Plus there's another night for slower/beginners/run-walk.
I'd respectfully suggest it's not the right club for you, is there any others nearby?

Btw at my previous club I only went to the ladies nights, I never felt fast enough for the full club night. At my current club I don't go very often, but recently I've been very happy with the slowest group-enough to push me without totally dying!

AR that sounds an unpleasant way for a club to make you feel included

It's difficult. It's the nearest one to me and I have a kind of love/hate relationship with it.

That's really bad AR. We split into 6 groups at mine. ORANGE. O for the beginners through to E for the fast folk. Orange is the club colours!

Our slowest group is run-walk and none of the groups is allowed to leave anyone behind even if someone has trouble keeping up

You need to get them to start a beginners' group so then they have to accommodate slower runners, AR
