When I first entered the Bacchus marathon/half I thought it was quite expensive (£45). However, it's so fantastically well organised and they give you so much stuff I think it's a bargain!

I'm in the throws of organising a 10k in July 2015 - £8 for affiliated runners, £10 for unaffiliated. Just a medal for finishers and maybe a discount/offer in the coffee shop afterwards. Lots of friendly people too! Is mine a bit under-priced or more closer to reality? http://www.fetcheveryone.com/viewracedetails.php?id=329185 |

"Runners and walkers welcome" - in light of the current Spen20 twitterdrama, that statement makes me very happy indeed.

In fact I've added it to me race portfolio. Can't guarantee I'll run it, but it looks like the kind of thing I'd like.

No, It's nice to see someone doing it like in the old days (say nearly 5 years ago?) Are you just organising the race for runners/walkers or are you fundraising? I think that is part of the issue. A lot of races are now run by commercial companies and most others are fundraisers, so will charge what they think they can get away with. Triathlons are the worst with BTF bunging £5 on everything and outrageous amounts being charged. It's the main thing that puts me off doing triathlons. Very best of luck with it SP. |

Aberdeen's "color run" is clashing with parkrun and causing it to be cancelled, at £30 for a 5k. but on the other hand, I know a load of people doing it who would never normally do something active (despite my attempts to convince them parkrun is fun!) so if that's how they want to spend their money, and it gets them out there doing something, that's a good thing. just wish they could have done it on a Sunday! |

It should be banned for calling it "color"

USA or non-USA more like. I don't recognise the idea of an £8/£10 10k being out of the ordinary, maybe I'm lucky but in Bristol you can do a reasonably priced locally organised 10k almost any week that you want to, particularly once you get into the spring/summer period. Good luck with it. |
