The planned easy 10k before parkrun this morning was harder than I thought so I ducked out of parkrun and had a coffee before the rush instead. Nice sunny day though.
I do worry that my view of my fitness is completely skewed because I'm surrounded by so many talented athletes. I told my doctor I wasn't all that fit because I struggle to complete 20 mile runs.

15 miles in sunshine ticked off this morning. Felt surprisingly comfortable.
I have no illusions over the level of my fitness. I reckon I (and most fetchies) are in the top 15 or 20 % of the population. I also think the gap between me and the top 1% is much wider than the gap between me and the "average".

I reckon you under estimate, Nellers.
For any year I can be in the top 20% 5k time on Run Britain. And the number or percentage of non-runners is huge.

Depends what you call fitness, FR. Cardio-vascular fitness I'm sure you're right. Strength and flexibility and all the other components of "fitness" I'd score less well on.
You may be right, though. 10%?

My Garmin told me I was in the top 2% by age and gender for average number of steps last year at some point. I see that as no accomplishment, indeed I don't use the step counts feature, more as an indication of what the general population might be like... Do not underestimate where you are compared to others

Goes away to write it out fifty times...

Yeah, when you have friends that have represented England/GB or others that are approaching five hundred marathons it does skew perception.
