Happy belated birthday! I'm not much of a traveller either Lesley although I did like a bit of marathon tourism back in the day. The rain and wind have arrived back here in Clydeside with a vengeance and I'd put off my recovery run yesterday (lovely weather) as I have a recurring sciatic/piriformis issue so I'm due out today in the pouring rain and 30+mph wind when I finish work. |

@Loopy lou it is Everest Marathon so you trek for 12 days to base camp and the marathon is from base camp back to the bottom! Sounds amazing but apart from cost of entry and time away the kit expenditure will be astronomical as well.... back to that lottery win. @hillstrider seems that if fetch is now saving our posts - update on my feature request from Fetch: The site will now automatically backup your post as you type it (so at most you'll lose about 15 seconds of typing). You can navigate to anywhere else, even leave the site - but when you come back to that thread, your post will be there (although I reserve the right to squish any backups that have not been claimed after a certain time period) |

Thanks GG, I got the notification. Thanks for posting the original request for this facility. I think that there were 12 requests in support. It's amazing what fetch can do!

Great running everyone. There are some impressive running resumes on here! An overseas race event is on my bucket list. Hopefully, a marathon if the planets align. GG, I saw a YouTube video on the Everest Marathon a while ago. It looks like hard work. I suppose the 12 day hike acclimatises you somewhat before the run. Sorry to hear about the rain and wind, Duo. We had the same yesterday, but fortunately it fell on a non running day. @Lesley C, you could certainly argue that it’s not necessary to run abroad when you live in a place as stunning as Scotland. One of my favourite places having done two road trips in the past 10 years. Lucky you. A little under 11km to work today. @ 7:30am is a bit early for me to be in the office. On running days I’m out the door at 7:15-7:30 and at the desk at 8:45-9am. I need a run and a coffee before any socialisation. Not a morning person! |

I forgot to say in my last post that it may interest some of you (given the subject of the thread) that a young Australian has announced his intention to try to break the record for the fastest 1000 miles by foot in October this year. The current record which has stood since the late 1980s is a little over 10 days. He will be running on a 400m track. So it basically requires 160kms a day. The same runner (Nedd Brockmann) ran across Australia from Perth to Sydney in 2022 in 47 or so days but failed to break the record. He fell something like 7 days short but finished and raised a lot of $$ for homelessness charities. An epic achievement and it’s amazing that someone is trying to hit a mileage total in 10 days that we have the whole year to complete. |

Ohhh thanks for sharing that if you notice anything we can track progress that would be great. Someone I am in a FB group with did the across Australia last year can’t remember how long it took. I’d love to do something like that (not targeting a record) I read the Pants of Perspective by Anna McNuff which was her run along NZ and lighted that torch too. Amazing. And yes Everest would be tough but an incredible experience. |

Thanks, GG. I’ll check the book out. You should be able to follow it on his Instagram account and on the website neddbrockmann.com in October. Someone else ended up breaking the Aus record in sub 40 days last year. |

JackFW, well done for this mornings 11k on the way to work. 1000 metres on a 400 metre running track would be an incredible achievement, no matter how long it took. The thought of going round "in circles" is enough to make me feel dizzy 😵 I ran 4.1 miles this morning, including 5 x 0.32 mile circuit, with 90 seconds recoveries. |
