Good evening, all! Hope everyone has had a good month. I will take screenshot of the 'annual table' before I go to bed tonight. DocM are you OK to do the roundup? I'll check to see if I have your email address from last year and email you after tomorrow if you're OK to do it. Thanks.

Thanks, torey. I was pleased with my HM result. Am going to postpone my attempt at a virtual mile until my legs have recovered. Maybe next week. A good start to the new month for you. Well done.

No need to apologise, DocM. Email on its way x

so it may still be cold outside, but the spring flowers are starting to line our running routes, so for this months round up just a few facts about those little delights that cheer us on our way.

Primrose, Primula vulgaris
This beautiful British native primrose is one our most well-loved spring flowers, with its pale yellow blooms and fresh green, crinkled leaves. Over the years, primroses will grow into clumps that can be divided and replanted
Its name actually comes from the Latin word 'primus', which means 'first'. So, many believe that it has a meaning of youth, renewal and optimism.

Snowdrops, Galanthus spp.
Snowdrops are some of the earliest spring flowers to bloom, sometimes flowering as soon as January
Snowdrops were named after earrings not drops of snow. There are more than 2,500 varieties of snowdrop. They are symbolic of spring, purity and religion

Crocus, Crocus tommasinianus
Crocuses are some of the cheeriest spring flowers, providing masses of pollen for early queen bumblebees. Most crocus flowers are purple but you can buy yellow and white varieties, too.
The name Crocus is from the Greek word krokos, which was borrowed from the Semitic word karkom. The name did not refer to the familiar spring-blooming species, but to the Saffron Crocus (C. sativus), which was used extensively as a die, as an ingredient in cooking and even in embalming rituals.

Daffodils, Narcissus spp.
Would spring even be spring without daffodils? These cheery yellow flowers bloom in even the harshhey're the official 10th wedding anniversary flower. Tradition holds that if a daffodil is forced to bloom for the Chinese New Year, it will bring luck to the whole household.est conditions, offering a splash of colour when there's little else in flower in the garden.

Hyacinth, Hyacinthus
Hyacinths are lovely spring flowers that have fallen out of favour in recent years, due to their slightly old fashioned look. However they work well in pot displays and are extremely fragrant, offering a blast of spring colour and scent early in the year.
Hyacinths symbolize jealousy, a desire for forgiveness, joy, and sincerity, depending on the flower color. Yellow hyacinths are linked to jealousy, purple flowers mean you're seeking forgiveness, and blue hyacinths are tied to sincere care
