I've been making some adjustments to our race listings to make them (hopefully) a bit easier to understand, and a bit more useful.
Here's an example of the old layout:
And here's the new layout, and a list of things to look out for:
1) the "Also listed on" box now has priority position. It serves as the date of the listing you're viewing, AND and indication that there are other instances of this event.
2) the 'Rated XX%' box should now be appearing for more races, because it's pulling in all the ratings for that event, not just the current one. More on that in a minute. But also, if you click it, you scroll down to where the reviews are.
3) the map has a bit more space, and if there's a route tied to the race, it will automatically zoom/pan to show the whole route, with none cut off.
4) you can't see the 'Race Noticeboard' on the new screenshot. The point of the noticeboard is for cancellations, meetups, lifts, emergency route changes etc. If an event date is more than 30 days ago, the noticeboard is not shown. Btw, did you know that if you post on the noticeboard, or change the race date, all the entrants are notified? When the noticeboard is present, it appears between the map and the entrants list.
5) The entrant list is now full-width. Lots of listings were looking very cramped, and some of the numbers were escaping the little boxes. I've also done a bit of tidying - in the 'old' screenshot, the SB column shows zeroes for all the participants, because none of them have recorded an SB yet this year. On the new page, empty SB's and PB's are shown as blank. And I've jazzed up the PB and SB highlights, by making them actual gold and silver. No expense has been spared. I've also put 'tentative' participants in a slightly different grey, and used italics, to help them stand out.
6) Onto reviews then. It's not shown on the 'old' screenshot, but the reviews used to be in a column on the right. Now there are two bars for each criterion, with the red bars showing the edition of the race that you're viewing, and the white bars showing the overall rating for all happenings of the event. So if an event has a mare with its timing system in a given year, you can have a look to see whether it's a one-off or a bigger problem. If the race is in your portfolio, there's also a quick link to amend your own review.
7) If you're researching a particular race, it's really useful to read some blogs from people who've done the event before. Under the old system, you only saw blogs for the instance of the event you were looking at. So you could look back at previous instances to find old blogs - but it was a bit of a pain. Now I've gathered all the blogs together, to make it easier. It's amazing to see how many there are over the years - there are 845 London blogs to read! It will hopefully be really helpful for getting to grips with lesser-known events - e.g. there are only two blogs tied to the forthcoming Hastings Half - but the page now gives me 20 accounts from other people who have trained for the event.
As with any change, I expect I've introduced a few bugs - but I hope these changes are useful for you.

No run for me this morning. My boy got a migraine straight after footie yesterday. He's ok (a big sleep always sorts him out, and he did brilliantly in the match - clean sheet against the top team in the league, and some awesome saves), but it's meant I've had some time sitting about.
If you haven't heard of Wordle, or one of its many spin offs yet, I don't know how! I've put together a prototype of a very Fetch variation. It might not work quite as planned yet, but I hope you'll give it a go - and I can knock off the rough edges this coming week.
Sign up, and you'll see your local map, with ten black markers - each one containing a digit. Collect these on your runs, rides, walks (and swims if you're lucky). It's GPS only, sorry. When you have enough digits, try and guess the secret number, which is anywhere between 1 and 1,000,000. If your guess is wrong, Rundle will tell you whether you are too high or too low.
All Fetchies are chasing the same number. So (I'll start a thread), you can choose to share your intel from your guesses - or (moral dilemma) you can try to throw everyone else off the scent.
If you're the person who guesses the right number, you get a snazzy new badge. The secret number will then reset, and the game begins again.
Join the game here:
fetcheveryone.com/rundle.php
NB if your map has a blue background, it's likely that your home location is in the sea. Leave the game, go here to adjust your location: fetcheveryone.com/user-settings-location.php then rejoin.
(And like I said, there might be other bugs, but if so, this'll have to wait - I'm off to make pancakes for the boy.)

Sounds great! I’m sure things will be sorted as it progresses. I gong know how many guesses can be made or how much time is in between the guesses. At the moment I can see the numbers but I don’t know where the 50m boundary for each would be. I echo the sentiments about inaccessibility. I have two roads running north/south and two running east/west. Through areas of fields that are private property. Not many areas. Two of the numbers are close to a road but maybe not close enough. In June, I will be (to put it very generously) making up the numbers in a 24 hour swim relay, in a lake. An actual lake. Full of beastly mud and oomska!
This is the event:
levelwater.org
Each team can have up to eight people in it, and each team member swims for an hour at a time. The rest of the team will be doing multiple swims within that, but so far I've just put myself down for one hour, because that already feels like a big enough challenge for me. I am ok with swimming in a pool, where I can see the bottom, and stop every 25 metres to cling on to something and cough/retch when I need to. I don't (yet) feel the same magical qualities that Katie reports from swimming in large puddles of unknown origin
Each participant has been asked to raise £150 for Level Water - a charity that provides specialist one-to-one swimming lessons for disabled children. That's what I'll be reminding myself of, every time I want to chicken out. If you'd like to donate, that'd be lovely - but no pressure at all. Here's my page:
justgiving.com
My plan is to keep pool swimming for another few months, whilst the outdoor temperature is still so low, and venture into open water by about April/May, in time to get my sea legs for the event in June.

I have finally got all my ducks in a row for the cycling jerseys.
They will be made by Ron Hill specials, and they'll be short sleeve, with a half zip and three pockets on the back. The material will be the same as our recent batch of running shirts (I had some nice comments on the feel and weight). So they'll be more suited for warmer weather, unless you layer up. The design will be the same as the recent shirts, and unless there's a heady clamour, I'll just do the red version for visibility.
Here's my Photoshop of the design (it's a bit blurry):
for a clearer pic of the design, here's a nice one (albeit of the black ones) from the gallery, featuring Sigh and Mozzer. Look at those lovely swooshes, hexagons, and big smiles. Perfect!
I will aim to sell these for £36 with free p&p if you're in GB/NI (and postage at cost if you're overseas). Assuming we get a decent order, the price equates to about £10 in the Fetch coffers for each shirt sold. I'll do a preorder soon, and will check
The final bit of the jigsaw is to understand how much interest there is. Please can you choose an option in this poll to help me out?

Can this be true?
Obviously, if you've only got 3 followers, or if all your other posts are about pulling faces at farm animals, you might not be the ideal candidate. But you are still very welcome to put your name forward, whoever you are
How do I apply?
If you're up for it, leave a comment to say which brand and model you like to run in, the type of terrain you prefer (road, trail, mud, hills, whatevs), and links to your social meeeeeja accounts so they can see where you're at. I'll share these with Sweatshop, and we'll take it from there.
Bing bong.
The fragrant and glamorous people at Sweatshop are looking for shoe testers!
What you'd need to do
1) answer some set questions about your experience with the shoes;
2) provide some pics of yourself wearing the shoes;
3) share your pics on your social meeeeeeeeeeeeeja accounts...
