Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Notes & Comments

Lode HM. An out and back course.

Tail wind on the way out, headwind coming back, but a lot lighter than yesterday's 40+mph wind.

Awful run. Based on last Sunday's Fenland 10 race I had been expecting about 1:49 (~8:18mm pace)

Wore a LS shirt under my vest. The sun came out just as we started and I was too warm. After about 6 miles it clouded over and became cold so I was glad I had the LS shirt, but I still had a Raynaud's attack.
Affected by car exhaust fumes but more by tight hamstrings after 6 miles.
Finished exhausted.

A PW for a non-pacer HM :-(

1) 1m - 8:13(8:13/m) 147/154bpm 28cal 7.3/8.64mph
2) 1m - 8:18(8:18/m) 155/157bpm 29cal 7.22/7.47mph

5) 1m - 8:30(8:30/m) 157/162bpm 29cal 7.06/7.37mph At 4.5 miles I was about to go cross a flat single file bridge but the woman in front suddenly slowed down a lot and I had to virtually stop. At 4.75 miles we crossed Reach Lode bridge.
6) 1m - 8:29(8:29/m) 157/160bpm 29cal 7.07/7.26mph 5.9 miles we went over Burwell Lode bridge.
7) 1m - 8:45(8:45/m) 154/158bpm 30cal 6.85/7.14mph Halfway in 48.52 - very sharp turnaround. Badly affected along Little Fen Drove by exhaust fumes from slow moving cars which had just started their engines upon leaving Wicken Fen. Some difficulty breathing the rest of the race.
8) 1m - 8:51(8:51/m) 152/158bpm 31cal 6.78/7.26mph Back over Burwell Lode bridge.

13) 1m - 10:41(10:41/m) 140/143bpm 37cal 5.62/6.1mph Into Lode and more car exhaust fumes

That doesn’t sound like a good day out. Sorry you were affected by so many issues. 🙁
Flatlander
No, not a good day, although the cycle ride there was nice :-) . These things seem to keep happening to me ;-) . Hope I've recovered by St Neot's.
Fenland Flier
You will be running fit in 2 weeks time.
