I was hydrated and carbed up looking forward to the run. I wasn't expecting miracles having had over 7 weeks out and only running since Boxing day.

Near last years 2 hours would be excellent, but before injury the aim was 1:58 so I thought I'd try and start at that.

I did and soon started following Claire (No 1) the ex race secretary around, she dragged me around until mile 11's water station where I had to let her go. Cramp was in my right calf and from 12 miles my left too, I slowed and tried to relax, at 13 miles I felt ok and picked up the pace again.
