paskha AFTER: PB!!!! This is such a great site for motivation!! I was able to bet on myself knowing I needed a PB of 100 secs just to break even - so unlikely to actually gain points - NOOOOO!!!!!! I WAS WRONG - I HAVE GAINED 45 POINTS (bet 100, won 145), but it definitely kept me going .... It WAS hilly - there was one seriously steep downhill (me ever cautious, I met one runner returning with a damaged knee) and I got to mile 4 in 34:51, then there was THIS ALMIGHTY UPHILL, that made my Mile 5 split 11:25 ... so guessed the best time I could hope for now was 1:04, so I stopped looking at my watch and just did the absolute best I could, which was 16:41 for the last 2 miles which were FAST - Woopee!! It was wet first thing - but was clearly warm & muggy, then the sun came out for most of the race, but it wasn't cooking like July! Thankyou Fetch!!! // BEFORE: pre-race blurb .... Cornish GP race No.11 - got to do a 150 mile round trip to run this new 7 miler near Launceston. UPDATE - 12 Aug 06 - I ran a fairly hilly 10K race last night and smashed my Course Best there by nearly 3 mins, averaging 8:45 pace (but it was perfect COOL windy weather, which helped) so I just MIGHT be on for a PB here ..... the BIG problem is - it's a NEW race, so I have absolutely no idea how hilly it's going to be .... and no chance of a PB if it gets hot again!!
