Forest Von Supermurph Gump Familiar with the terrain and concerned that if alot of hills are included then a PB wont be in the offing.
Ran 40m 40s in training (20/09/09) so have re-assessed my goals based on that.

Ran a PB of 41m 07s. Happy with that, testing course and a bit windy. Next stop sub 40......

Hicky A nice two lap course with just enough ups and downs to keep you interested but still allow a PB. A bit of jostling off the line as runners weren't lined up in order of ability, but they soon sorted themselves out. Although the marshalling was good there wasn't the atmosphere that events ran by running clubs tend to generate............but what great surroundings to go for a run.

jamieb32 A good course with more uphill than I was expecting. Really busy as the 5k runners shared first lap with us on the 10k so made for a congested start. Well organised with plenty of water and encouragement on the way round.

cehstone Cycle was OK, took as much time as I could. Went down to the start with a couple of minutes to go, every body's packed in. Realize that I haven't got the timer chip on my ankle. Runn back to the bike, find the chip, put it on my ankle and head back to the start. The klaxon starts the race as I'm running down the hill, Get into the enclosure and have everybody to overtake down that first hill. Got better from then on. Heart rate was consistently high, up in the top 150s into low 160s. As usual I'm good on the downhills and get past a lot of people. In the first three k I feel strong. Better on the hills this time, don't get overtaken by everybody. Cooler this time, don't need a drink so just throw it over my back and face. The end was good, a couple of older guys kept overtaking me on the uphill and I would overtake them on the downhills. My breathing is very strong by now. All sharp outbreaths. We round the last right turn and they are overtaking, so I up the pace a bit, up on my toes, still got some bounce and push on, feeling OK at the left turn into the finishing line and I think I've got away from them, there's one person out front but I think too far but I'm catching him so I think 'might as well have a go' and go into full sprint and I'm going to catch him. The commentator is saying something about the sprint. I'm really going quite fast as I cross the finish line and I find somebody was tight behind me. I don't think they caught me. Forgot to stop the timer for a while. Good time, good race. Much faster throughout with some strength at the end. Pleased.
