Mr J I suffered a lot with the heat. I started at sub 50 pace for the first 4km and then just hit the wall. Struggled back.

Tim of Fife MILTON KEYNES 10KMS AT OPEN UNIVERSITY - 49.41 MINS (STOPWATCH) / 49.55 MINS (OFFICIAL) - 253RD OF 385 FINISHERS

This was a total disaster! I'd been tired and dehydrated through the day, with a thumping headache. So, racing in sweltering temperatures in the evening was plain stupid. But then, I've never been well known for my common sense.

I knew long before half-distance that I was going to struggle if I didn't do something. So, from the fourth kilometre, went into 'survival' mode and took a thirty second walk at each km marker. It got me round. No more, no less.

I'm very, very farfrom impressed with myself!

(km splits - 4.52 / 4.47 / 4.55 / 5.01 / 5.06 5.06 / 5.09 / 5.00 / 5.01 / 4.44)
