Alun The second race of the weekend, wasn't sure what to expect but decided to start fast and see how long I could hang on for. The course went from firm grass after almost a mile to a mixture of waterlogged mud and grassy paths, the tailwind made it very fast but I knew that the return paths were going to be considerably tougher. Turns out that my limit was about 4½ miles, just before the ditches (which were much deeper and wider than normal due to the recent heavy rain!!), the remaining 1½ miles was a struggle and I lost 5 or 6 places. Very happy with 20th, my joint highest finish, tempered by the thought that I was so close to the top 20 for the first time! M&M finished 3rd in the combined and 1st in the men's competition, happy days!! 🏃💪
