One big loop of Arthur’s Seat. First mile uphill, then it flattens out, good downhill to the finish with a wee rise to the actual line.

It's called The Radical Road, isn't it? The road that goes up and round Arthur's Seat? A mile up, a flat bit then a fab mile plus dooooowwwn! Wheeeee! Great place for a cheating fastest mile! Dynamic Earth cafe with loads of space after.

In the big hilly and grassy bit in the middle of Edinburgh. Start at the loch with the swans and geese. 1.5 k steeply uphill. At the second loch on your left, it levels. Great view to the Pentlands. Another small climb then 2.5k downhill. 99% tarmac.
