Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

clairevmc Glasgow Uni 5 miler. First time I've done a 5 mile race so a PB by default. It was a really hilly course which is probably why my pace is slower than my 10K pace. Nevermind. Well organised race and the big bottle of hair conditioner in the goody bag was nice as I have very long hair. Have been round this route before as part of the Nigel Barge 10K but I had forgotten how hilly it was. Started going straight up a hill and then we all had to squeeze through a narrow gate so actually stopped - first time I've had to stop in a race ever. So that threw me a bit but there were some good downhill stretches too. Bit disappointed with my time as my 10K pace should make for a 31.xx or even late 30.xx time but maybe only on a flat course. Could only see a distance marker for the first mile so couldn't really pace myself properly.

ian9657 First time I had raced this but, like Clairevmc, I had ran the Nigl Barge before. Unlike Claire, I remembered just how hilly the course was ! I struggled with the hills at training on Wed and today was no different. To start with a hill, then have to stop for a narrow gate was not a good start. Legs were heavy and I struggled but managed to get around. Unfortunately I was shattered in the second lap and stopped to get my breadth back in the on one of the first hills before Marina grabbed me and said 'c'mon Ian'. Managed to keep going and was pulled along to a good finish by the young female runner in front of me and someone's foot steps behind. Well done to all.
