Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Dochart The HQ for this race is minutes from the M4/M32 in the beautiful grounds of University of West of England's Glenside campus, Bristol. Car parking on site is free. Registration was busy from an hour before the start and the race is popular with 500+ runners. The route is initially away from trafficked roads, around the campus, nearby hospital grounds and the Oldbury Court Estate but after 3-4k emerges onto some busy roads. The route is described as undulating and falls to cross the river Frome three times, with corresponding 'ups' on the other side! It was sunny and warm on the morning, which made for hot going during the race. The start was busy and those at the back must have taken some time to cross the line. The initial route circles the campus and it was a bit disconcerting to be crossing the finish line less than 1km into the race. There were plenty of marshalls to ensure runners kept to the route, although in the latter stages of the race not all quieter road crossings were marshalled. Distance markers were not always present, making it difficult to judge pace with any accuracy. Water stations were provided in addition to water at the end. The final 1km includes a quite steep, though thankfully short, section ascending Blackberry Hill. I started much better this time and was within my target time after 4km, but rather disappointingly faded a bit in the second half. Stopwatch time 47:59; official time 48:12. 150/574

Head Gone In reality would have been happy with 1:10 on this hilly course and ecstatic at getting under 1:05. Excellent marshalling 3 water stations in 6 miles.
