Boots Although I didn't break the 28 minute barrier, I still managed to equal my PB. The first mile was once again too fast (5:10) and this probably led to me losing my motivation after 2.5 miles. But with a mile to go I managed to re-motivate myself and managed a sub 5:30 mile which was pleasing. I didn't feel too good on the day, so I'm hoping next years New Year New Five will finally take me under the 28 minute barrier.

Go-KL Was pretty nervous all day, just like last year for some unknown reason, maybe because again it is the first proper race I have done since the Spring.
At least had the day off work which meant I was able to prepare properly and not be rushed. Got off to a great start - possibly too good as the first mile was maybe a bit too quick at 5.33. Wearing the new trainers felt great - so much more bounce than the old pair. Then like last year eased into a pace which I feel I could maintain almost for a half marathon - indeed felt strong for the final half mile until I felt a little queasy - possibly a legacy of the upset stomach I still have.
No real problems, except right calf was still tight to start, left hip a little aggravated near end, and the right knee was sore 20 minutes after the event. And I forgot to set my HR monitor to race - which meant it beeped incessently.
28 seconds faster than last year and unofficially finished 23rd. Garmin has the distance as 5.10 miles and chatting to others - they think the course is a little long too.

DaveH Missing the first mile marker was never going to make pacing easy, and hit Mile 2 40secs under target time - oops. That and blowing chunks on the finishing straight made it a good old day.

Waveydavey Started quickly, but faded, not badly, just gradually, but faded. Was pleased that I didn't go backwards and my splits for the latter 4 miles were pretty even.
