Running Postie Weather conditions wet and windy.Again a big thank you to eMpTy for pacing me for 9k and then moving over to let me pass for the glory of the run in again.Joking apart glad we both broke 44mins thanks again and a big well done sub 43mins next.

oldbirdhead Despite not breaking 39 minutes I am extremely pleased with this result. I have not trained properly for two weeks due to a hamstring injury followed by knee pain. But I had no knee or hamstring pain at all during the race...WELL CHUFFED!!! After 5k was on course for 38.40 but it was a lot harder on the way back with blustery wind and rain. 1=3.43(163), 2=3.55(174), 3=3.46(176), 4=3.56(177),5=3.58(178), 6=3.57(179), 7=4.04(178), 8=4.00(178), 9=4.04(178), 10=3.51(180)

eMpTy I can see how this could be a really fast course but the wind and rain took the edge off it. Aiming to break 44 for first time ran first K with Running Postie trying desperately not to go off too fast – aim was for 4:20 k’s. Splits were 4:20 (6:57), 4:18 (6:54), 4:15 (6:50), 4:14 (6:48), 4:17 (6:53), 4:22 (7:01), 4:26 (7:08), 4:29 (7:12), 4:32 (7:17), 4:20 (6:57). I knew Running Postie was there or there abouts behind me so that kept me honest during the second half along the exposed Promenade, thanks for that. My pacing for him worked again as he came past me just before 9k, decided not to give chase but concentrate on that elusive sub 44. Finally crossed the line in 43:51 – YES, done it at last.
