I haven't tried a fabric crate........ but I am fairly confident that Wanda would think the lovely ripping sound that a soft toy or tennis ball makes as it is being shredded would probably sound even better if there was a whole crate to tear to pieces ...

I thought that it either is, or soon will be a legal requirement to have your dog "restrained" in the car, whether that includes the boot of a hatchback/estate with/without dog guard - or maybe I'm imagining it ? I'm not sure.... There was a case, where I used to live (years ago) of a front seat passenger being killed by a dog flying forward during a crash and a friend had a prang when her cat escaped from it's basket on the front passenger seat and dived between her feet. Although mum's collie always just sat nicely in the car or hatchback I never thought it was worth the risk with Ralph and my kids in the car. |

There is currently a law under the road traffic act of having an insecure load. I'm not sure about a specific requirement for dogs yet.

As far as I have been advised a dog guard across the back to enclose the boot/hatchback area covers the definition of restraining your dog in a car. I don't know what the law is if your dog travels on the actual seat of a car though..... According to the good citizen test a dog should be secure in a car but it doesn't on the paperwork suggest it is a legal requirement.... |

In law a dog is classed as property. As long as the property loaded in the car is secure enough not to cause a danger to others, then it doesn't have to be restrained as such. So guards are adequate. Or so I am lead to believe through my limited knowledge of the RTA and bring a traffic rat.
