I've had an email from our previous trainer (who stopped her classes for a while before Christmas for health reasons) saying classes are resuming next week. This leaves me in a bit of a dilemma.
The class I have been going to in the meantime is expensive but excellent. In the four months we have been going Wanda has made so much progress. However, she has started with them as a much more settled, and on the whole better behaved dog who was *almost* ready to take her Gold Test - I can't ignore the fact that it was our original teacher who got her this far and through the Bronze and Silver.
The course I am doing with the 'new' class will have about 2 weeks overlap before the current 10 week course finishes and I'll have to make a decision about whether to book the next one.
I'm going to return to the original class and see how things go and if there is any prospect of taking the Gold Test say in the next 3 months. But ultimately I think I'll continue with the new class.... It will be interesting to see if our original trainer thinks Wanda is showing any improvement since she last saw her.....

Why not see how Wanda is, see who she does best with no she's come along from where she was.

Wanda absolutely LOVES our old trainer but the environment at the new class is better for her I feel - more space - in the old class we have to sit in the corner well away from the other dogs and I am not sure being segregated in that way is beneficial for us and is done more for the benefit of the other attendees who don't want to sit next to the lively Staffy!
The time and location of the new class also works better for me to fit in around work (both are in the daytime) which has to be a consideration too, regardless of how Wanda does unfortunately - I need to be available for work too.
I will go back to the old class for a couple of weeks - given that the class has not been running for the best part of four or five months it may be that not all of the previous attendees will return or there may be new ones - getting used to a new group of dogs will be something of a challenge in itself for Wanda.

Well done to all the good doggies and hardworking owners!
Leah and I have just had a stagger around the block and met someone we haven't seen for years. They couldn't believe how grey/thin/scraggy Leah looked and said she looked like a completely different breed. :-(. My dog is very old.
