Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

The initial diagnosis from the vet this morning is cruciate ligament, possibly full rupture.

A week of Metacam and as much rest as possible then discuss various surgical options with the expert.
However, the likelihood of the other knee doing the same at some point is very high.
I'm gutted for my poor active, bonkers, fell walking boy :( and at the same time relieved that it's mechanical and not something more sinister.

Dogs appear to cope far better with ligament problems than humans. I hope a workable solution is soon found.

Poor Ralf. :-(
I know a couple of dogs though that have had surgery and then physio and are now basically normal (one is a labradoodle who was back to doing agility until he retired recently for unrelated reasons.)

Sorry to hear this news RH but the rest (if it can be achieved!) is likely to help and the surgical options seem to have made a great deal of progress since we thought our Daisy would need it twenty years ago. luck

Can I ask if anyone has used a harness and seat belt attachment for their dog to ride in a car?

I have Indi secured in a crate in my car but will soon be getting a lift from a friend who does not have a dog so no such luxury.

I have looked on line and there is so much choice I wonder if any of you have experience of such things and any recommendations please?

I have an elasticated strap (like a short lead) that plugs into the seatbelt holder and clips to Rory’s harness at the other end (his normal Perfect Fit harness). I’m almost certain I would have got it from Amazon...that’s not very helpful, sorry!

Ralph sits on the back seat and he has a thing that attaches from his harness and plugs into the seat belt slot, the crate he was used to doesn't fit in this car.

I'm going to try one of the restraints I've noticed recently that goes over the headrest instead - as he has a habit of standing on the red button and releasing his own belt.
