Wanda also has school mode and free agent mode. However, school mode can also be switched off if the distraction is great enough, the usual one being another dog barking!

Thanks for the reminder of the process D2. After agility today that could be our next game.

We’ve got agility today too (first time since before Christmas). Must buy some cheese-in-a-tube!

One of the aspects of this new class I'm going to next week is to wean the dog off treats and toys in readiness for competition where you cant use anything! Will be interesting

Making one of my random observations again - Rory’s been away twice this year, once without me and once with me. When I left him he was FURIOUS when I got back, and while we were away together he was a right pain.
Once he got over himself though, both times he seems calmer and more relaxed now we’re home. D’you think he’s realising ‘oh, OK, I always come back here with Mazlin. This must be where I’m staying’? (Or maybe he’s still tired from being an idiot last weekend...)

Cookie and Phoebe seem happy to be away, both with us and in boarding. They are always happy to get home. They realise after a while you aren’t leaving them anywhere for long. We’re lucky in that we have found 2 really good places for them to go whilst we’re away.

Ernie is generally happier at home with me and in his routine. He is OK when we're away but wakes me really early. I presume he needs to check I'm still there.

Wanda is a pain at night when we are away. Even if we were to stay somewhere which had no rules about dogs in the bedrooms or on the beds we prefer her to sleep downstairs as at home. However if she is sleeping at the bottom of the stairs when away she comes up at approximately 2 hour intervals to check on each of us, but then usually returning to her bed again. To be fair if we didn't shut her in the kitchen at night she would probably do this at home too.....

When we’re away the dogs beds either go in our bedroom or directly outside, rather than shut away downstairs in a strange place. Usually from 03:00 onwards we have attempts to get on our bed (Cookie).
