Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Why do I never get pbs anymore?

RevBarbaraG mentioned strength training. My pace has improved since I introduced some weight training sessions in addition to my training runs. Maybe that would help.

What's your attitude towards "the gays"? http://www.fetcheveryone.com/viewtopic.php?id=55495

This might be the answer.

36 is no age at all, and certainly not a reason for not continuing to improve. Carlos Lopez set a world record for the marathon aged 38. You just need to train a bit more, and a bit better and you'll definitely get faster :-)

My next thought is, why do you need to be good at it?

I love running for the sense of freedom, space, the fact that I can do it - and the endorphins. And I get all of those, with less risk of injury, by running slower. True, there is a particular buzz that comes from beating a PB, or a rival - if you're good enough for that, which I'm not. There's so much more to be enjoyed in running than getting PB's :).

But if PB's are what you're after, then consistent training is the key, and injury is your enemy. Slow down in training and you will be able to run more miles, and then you will be able to run faster on race day.

I'm sure that if you were told to run some runs faster, you'd find it difficult but see it as a good challenge for your training :-) Can you apply the same motivation to running more slowly than you'd like to?

Good thinking Pestomum :-) Running slower is a skill which you also have to work at.

I thought PB's sere beyond me too & they are for my favourite distance but I got 3 at unusual distance for me last year.

Keep at it - if you think you can do it you're probably right, if you think you can't do it you're probably right.
