Have been following the progress of the race. Massive congratulations to all finishers I am in awe of you all. Well done to all support crews too must have been a long night. Two of my club have finished Seb in 2oth? place and Dawn in 98th? so pleased for them both. They've trained so hard and deserve their goblets. We'll just have to make sure Dawn has enough wine to keep it topped up.

Duchess
Kinlochleven marshal and prize-giving shop assistant now retiring and heading for bed. That was a long tough night - some very battered people out there.

There will be a few drinks later I think.... :-)

I've only just worked out who you are Duchess! Well done to all the organisers, committee, marshalls and everyone involved. What a massive and smooth festival of running and happiness it is! Well done to _andy, our lad, for a fantastic and gutsy run. And to all who finished in such tough conditions. And to all support crew, the most important part of the race, obviously!! :-)G

Seb in 20th place was a really cheery soul-we saw him a lot as he was just in front of __andy. Seb seemed very excited and happy about his red waterproof jacket working when the rain was lashing down at its heaviest!

Phew.

"Apocolyptic Rain" (can't remember who said that earlier, but spot on with that comment) just sums it up. It did ease off a bit on Saturday evening and I even took off the watreproof trousers at Lundavra (7 miles form the end)

Although my knee stopped working properly after 20 miles (kind of annoying, and not happened before in any of the shorter ultras), and I had settled for having to walk the final 50 miles, it's my ankles that are the problem now. They no longer exist! My lower legs just curve round a bit towards my foot now. Ouch.

As they say, you can't do it without support - so a big, big shout to every support crew (and marshals, organisers, etc.)... and especially my support crew who were just fab. :-)
