When it comes to UTMB. I am an just an enthusiastic armchair spectator (though I have run a couple of the sections).

I spoke to Macca at Lakeland and he was on the fence about doing it. I’m gutted not to be going but I think waiting a year is the sensible option

NDWDave I deferred too for the CCC. I want a proper UTMB experience and was not sure I'd get it this year and would have been wary of any sudden changes in travel rules too. I'm having a week.at home with the GL3D as a substitute experience.

Deferred CCC for pretty much same reasons plus finding any consistent elevation has been more problematic the last 18 months for some reason😀As the peninsula I call home is pancake. Plus I'm carrying a knock so turned out ok. Nice folks at easyJet cancelled flights which meant didn't lose out there either. Win-win!

I’m almost ready to fly out next week for the UTMB. I was only offered a late place as so many had deferred so I figured it might be a while before I get the chance again. I was in two minds about it but the excitement/fear has definitely taken over now. Some of the changes like the wave starts (how did I get in the 1st wave🤣) and food handed out by volunteers appeal to me but I accept the buzz around town might be a bit more subdued. The mountains will be just as steep I expect. |

I think UTMB now have their own ranking system presumably based on accredited races but it gives a similar result, 615, leading to a bib no of 612, placing in 1st wave of nos 1-900.
