I did it in 2009 too. I don't mind it but it's just a couple of miles down the road for me so not a big problems for logistics. If the weather's OK the bike can be fun as long as you do the wetsminster route rather than the other one.
I was there yesterday and can confirm it was very wet and the bike looked dangerous when the course was busy. I noticed there were a lot more race bikes and tri suits than usual. Normally at that one you get a lot more people on shoppers and baggy shorts and t-shirts.

It wasn't great BC at all.
I think (hope) the water was more brackish because you are a long way down river.
TRO is right - top end or local from here on in.

the dock is scarily deep I think knowing it's so deep makes is seem darker and deeper too!

But you only swim in the top metre next to the surface...

Meaning it doesn't matter how deep (or dark) it is.

If you drown you're dead, and it still doesn't matter how deep or dark the water is (and you won't be caring anyway). Deep water doesn't drown people.

I scuba dived the top 30m of a 800m wall. That’s actually quite scary you just see it plunging into dark nothingness below you. Quite disorientating as well.
The fear is ramped up when you do the dive they show you plaques of all those who have died there.
But it’s being a shit/over confident/careless diver not the depth that kills them.

Thought Rae was complimenting Cstars for a mo there!
Thinking about Oxfordshire tri on the 29th as reasonably local. Funny longer than sprint shorter than Olympic distance...
