Oh and another Newt: I ran 5 k this morning... I even managed 1.5 minutes running/30 seconds walking and ran for 2 whole kms non stop in the middle of it! I am almost running and not run/walking πŸ˜€

Hann - it is so nice to have you out and about on Fetch again - and actually running too! That's fabulous. blackheart

We need something to show the pot's scale. It 'looks' quite large. It is decorative enough not to have a purpose other than just that ...but could it?

And thank you very much for choosing the Purple Sprouting Broccoli, WA. I fear picking and eating is my contribution - Raffo did all the growing.

However this year I was instrumental in us having more crops to see us through winter and early spring. One of the best things about growing your own food is the seasonality. I'm a big believer in eating local produced stuff - and at the right time of the year.

My newt today is finishing my LEJOG challenge and getting my finisher certificate....

Very pleased with that. The medal has been posted so hopefully it’ll arrive some time next week. 😁

It is about 10 cms tall. And not glazed on the inside, so purely decorative. The artist carved it completely by hand. A labour of love and what makes it so very special. It is purely a decorative object. It has a very dainty, small foot and is porous. It is very tactile though!
I love Lucie Rie's work but could never ever afford one of her pots. I handled them in my days of dealing though. This pot, as regards to aesthetic and feel, comes very close yet it is very much this potter's pot.

Oh and thank you for the welcome! It is this lovely thread that drew me back in and got me back running really 🧑

The Beast from the East Mark 2 finished off our chard, cavolo and everlasting spinach but they were nearly over. We still have cabbages and the PSB... but the Hungry Gap beckons. That's mainly May in the UK, believe it or not.

You describe the ceramic beautifully- I can 'see' it better in the photo now.

And am educating myself about Dame Lucie Rie, ta Hann. Newt!

starblackheartstar The sixth running of Do a New Thing for Spring starblackheartstar

Lent has a special and specific meaning to Christians but has become an secular season of denial and hair shirting that serves no positve purpose. No chocolate, no booze, no -er - other stuff.

Why not treat the build up to Easter - as a chance to celebrate and embrace NEW THINGS - that's what spring is about after all.

The first few pages of the thread give more ideas.
