Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

It dawned on me today that although it looks like there is plenty of time, Dartmoor Discovery is getting close. I was kind of thinking "no need to worry", but actually it's 14 weeks so the 18-week plan I was looking at doesn't fit :) When I did it in 2018 I did 7 marathons between March and the DD (Barcelona, LDWA Devonshire Dumpling, Dinton Challenge, Great Welsh, North Dorset, Milton Keynes and Liverpool), with times ranging from 3:29 to 7hrs, but with not enough races this year still, I'm going to find it a challenge to get those kind of long runs in on my own. I've been thinking "Ach, it'll be fine!", but I do need some kind of plan otherwise those long runs won't happen. *hastily opens Excel to write a plan*

I'm wary of ramping up too quickly though with 4 weeks of no running. This week has gone okay and I'll end on 35-40ish most likely, but that needs to increase for the DD. And hills. I can't avoid the hills.

I had a similar thought yesterday about their only being 11-12 long runs left before it and it does need hill training, absolutely.

Thanks to all who've sent a summary over. Just giving this a little bump for anyone else that might want to send something across.

Thanks to all for sending across their summary for the month, and apologies to anyone if I have pulled the trigger before you had the chance to send across your summary. I was up at 5 this morning for my long run – I doubt I will last long into the evening!

There are 111 Fetchies targeting over 2,000 miles this year. A grand total of 261,680 miles, or slightly over 6.5x around the equator – go us. So far we’ve successfully completed out first lap, running an average of 400 or so miles each. That effort has us 10% down on target. But that’s only to be expected in the deep mid winter, we’ll make it up as the days get longer.

Well done everyone on their efforts, I’ve tried to be clever and tabulate all targets of 2,000 miles or over onto the one table below – apologies if it hasn’t come across as I intended!

I’ll leave you with my warmest wishes for March, an update from a few of our number on how their February went.

Keep safe and run well - P

Having taken a week’s break from running, I should end Feb just about on the line. Feeling in good nick *touches wood* at the moment. Excited to be looking towards races actually happening, to the point of booking tune-up Half Maras for autumn events.

Chunkywizard
A tough month at the sharp end of my P&G training for a now Virtual RUn To The Sea 50K at the end of March. Knackered now, I’ll be glad when it’s over!

Velorciraptor
I had a slow start to February, but the opportunity to run in different places and the prospect of a late spring marathon actually happening gave me some motivation and I'll finish the month on target.

Big_G
I had to take 4 weeks off due to a fall that caused some lingering dizziness, but w/c 22nd Feb I did 5 runs for 40 miles that week (well 39.9 miles!). In the circumstances, I’m happy with that so fingers crossed I can get some consistent miles in over the coming weeks, as my mind turns towards starting to train for the DD in June.

Rossco Peeko
Streak continues, now on day 312. Also 4th consecutive 200 mile month. Still no races planned.

twinny
Another really good month- I'm aiming for 50 miles a week and have managed that and more. Now working on ascent (aiming for 7.00ft+ a week). Loving running in the hills more than ever, particularly now the sun is shining!

Limegreenjelly
Not a lot to report really! I’ve just finished the month off with 2 x 50km for the Wolfpack virtual 100km!
My streak is on 211 days

Had a few ropey days running through snow and skating on ice but hopefully with the warmer weather that’s all behind me now!

DocM
159 miles for the month my lowest for over a year but still going fine.

Jimmyx
Overall I am happy with my progress this month and in the last week I have noticed that the speed sessions are starting to pay off. Total milage was lower this month due to snow/ice but got in a few extra strength sessions.

PaulN
Another solid month following P&D, but I’m resigned to not getting a marathon this Spring so am moving on to something a little more Ultra focused tomorrow.

Went under 19 mins and 40 mins in a couple of solo Time Trials, previously uncharted territory. Hopefully that pace can be recovered in the Autumn!

StuH
A very good February after a C19 disrupted January. 257 miles done, almost double the previous month. 390 for the year +19% over target. Being pushed on by Centurion One Slam Challenge, 600 miles over Feb/March.
