There's not much information on the tracker, but Dani Blackie is going for the solo female FKT on the SWCP this week. She got a brief mention on local news on Sunday night. Tracker is here: events.geotracks.co.uk and it looks as if she is about to wade across the Erme. |

I never found (well, came across) any on Portland, but was surprised how open many quarries were around Winspit. Fully open to go wandering around - including inside the 'quarry'. |

The SWCP Association posted this on FB yesterday. I haven't heard of this chap before, so I don't know how serious the attempt is, but you may be interested ... "Today, Britain’s Tony Riddle will attempt to break the Fastest Known Time for the country’s longest, most challenging National Trail, the South West Coast Path - whilst running (almost) barefoot! Tony plans to run 1014 kilometres (630 miles) in ten days (that's almost 2.5 marathons a day!), traversing over 115,000ft of ascents and descents to beat the current record of 10 days, 8 hours, 24 minutes. He started this morning at Minehead in Somerset and aims to finish at South Haven Point, Dorset on Saturday 24 September. We caught up with Tony before he headed out on his recording-breaking attempt and asked him a few questions about why now, what he expects will be the toughest sections, and what he is looking forward to the most. You can read our QandA with Tony in our blog. ➡ southwestcoastpath.org Tony is also fundraising for three initiatives close to his heart. One of which is the South West Coast Path Association - a massive thank you to Tony for giving back to the Path and helping us protect it for future generations. Support Tony via his Go Fund Me page gofundme.com Best of Luck Tony!" |
