Here's what a four mile grid looks like:

and in close up, here's what 80 metre squares look like:

If we assume 100 players, in 6400 squares, that's a bit of an ask for a lone seeker :-)

I did 6.5 miles yesterday morning. I only duplicated about 100 yards, and it was all inside the four mile grid in the pics above. That would have got me 152 squares.

Maybe start off with the squares 4 times the size?

Using the entire month of March (that's 73 miles for me), I would have covered 494 of the 6400 potential squares on an 80x80 four mile grid.

Obviously, I wasn't playing the game - so there's a heck of a lot of duplication there for me. But it still looks like I need to make the grid a bit smaller and the squares a bit larger.

Will try a three mile grid, with 40 x 40 squares. Bear with.

Here's the three mile grid, with a 40x40 grid of squares (so each square is about 120 metres). And it shows all the squares I've covered during March:

I run that stripe across the middle a lot, because it's the river and cycle path. If I avoid duplication, and let's assume each square uses up 120 metres of my monthly mileage, I could have covered approx. 979 squares this month. In theory, unless I got unlucky, I should at least unearth *someone* during that time, so that should be enough to trigger more seekers.

I'll go ahead with these dimensions, and if it's too easy / difficult, I can make more adjustments.

About This Thread

Maintained by fetcheveryone
Here's the barebones of the new game:

fetcheveryone.com/hideandseek.php

How it works
The game generates a big three mile square with you at the centre. The square is cut into a grid of 1600 smaller squares.

During any given, unlock as many squares from your grid as possible (C19 permitting) by visiting them during your training. These are the places where you can 'hide'. Before the month is up, you must choose one of these squares as your hiding place.

When the first game kicks off (1st of the month), a lone seeker must start finding people, by visiting the squares. When someone is found, they become a seeker too. The seekers can then collaborate to flush out the hiders, and a growing army of seekers hunt down the final hiders.

The last person to be found will become the seeker for the following month.

IMPORTANT
I am still building the game. Keep following this thread for updates as I make them.
